The Glass House is a project designed by AR Design Studio who completed a glass extension on this home located in Winchester, England and sited on a site of Archaeological importance. Because the owners are fans of glass, they’ve decided to build a simple sculptural glass staircase and a modern glass extension which opens itself up to the garden.
The extension is a contemporary piece of glass architecture that somehow reinvents the feel of the former servants’ quarters.
The interior design highlights the play between dark and light, creating a contrast between the bright open social spaces and dark and secluded private areas.
This amazing glass extension accommodates the open-plan kitchen, the living and the dining areas, while creating a flexible inside/outside space to allow the sunlight to flood the entire interior space.
In comparison with the extension, the formal lounge, the study and the dining room are more cozy and warm. On the upper level the Glass House features 4 spacious double bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms.
The house has a minimal appearance in order to permit the glass structure to stand out and be admired for the craftsmanship with which it has been created.
The completed property, now renamed Clarkes, suffered a major positive transformation, being turned into a contemporary and innovative design.
