Built on a site of 4200 square feet in Comporta, Portugal, this exceptional house was designed by a company called RRJ Arquitectos. The residence impresses with a highly contemporary layout based on straight lines and rectangular shapes, but the main choice of concrete and glass materials was also very inspired.
The home comprises 2 large concrete volumes linked by a smaller volume that was enveloped in cement and outfitted with wood fiber panels. Since the abode was mostly exposed to the sunrays from all sides, it was necessary to implement a few glazed planes, but the glass planes also feature their own shade screens that limit the flow of natural light according to the owner’s preferences. Furthermore, it’s also worth noting that the boundaries between the indoors and outdoors were blurred efficiently thanks to the transparency ensured by the multitude of glass elements.

Absolutely stunning design! The blend of concrete and glass creates such a serene atmosphere. I love how the shade screens balance the light while keeping those beautiful indoor-outdoor connections. Truly inspiring architecture for the Portuguese landscape.
Thank you! We’re thrilled you appreciate the balance between the concrete, glass, and shade screens. It was a joy to design a space that feels both serene and deeply connected to the Portuguese landscape.
