The current Nantucket Private Residence is the renovation of a house built in 1989. It is located in Nantucket, Massachusetts, in a cul-de-sac far away from the sea, and was completed by HFP/Ambuske Architects.
In fact, the older house was demolished, the only thing left being the structure. The remodeling consisted of new large windows, removing the attic space in order to extend the second floor bedrooms, bathrooms and the roof top entry foyer. Because light is never enough in a house, dormers were added to bring plenty of natural light into the upper floors and to the foyer area.
The garage was turned into a media center while the floor plan was added a master suite. The interior of the house was designed by using various materials such as drywall with white paint, stainless steel, white painted casework and white stained oak hardwood flooring.
The living room’s focal point is the actual fireplace that beautifully complements the design aesthetic. It’s by far the most spectacular element in the house.
The contrast between the remodeled modern white interior and the Nantucket exterior fits the owners like a glove.
