This beautiful home can be found in Porto, Portugal, and it was designed by João Rapagão. The house was originally built in 1906, featuring a typical early twentieth century layout, and it contains two volumes, one to the north and one to the south.
These volumes were expanded when the residence received its makeover in 2006, comprising a kitchen, a common room, a linen closet, the laundry facilities as well as a library that can also be used for musical rehearsals. The southern area received a fashion studio and a separate space for business management, facilitating working at home.
The remade layout incorporated new materials and new design elements but managed to keep some of its original traditional features, anchoring the dwelling into the present while still maintaining a faint connection to its past.
