The Edgeland Residence sited on the shores of the Colorado River was designed by Bercy Chen Studio. It’s a replica of the oldest housing typologies in the North America, the genuine American Pit House which takes advantage of the earth’s mass to keep the thermal comfort all year round.
It features many advantages of the modern technology such as hydronic heating and cooling, geothermal heat exchange, thermal heat storage and a green roof that is perfect for energy efficiency. Also a smart pool provides additional thermal mass linked into the geothermal system.
It comes as an extension of the landscape which is divided into two pavilions, one for living and the other one for sleeping. The project sets new standards for architecture by its great aesthetic qualities and its integrated mechanical features.
