Designed by Christian Ochaita and Roberto Gálvez, the Guatemala Beach House project includes 4 separate houses that were designed to serve as tranquil retreats for members of a large family who want to escape from the noisy and polluted environment of the big city. The project was completed in 2013 and offers exceptional living arrangements for each family member.
Each one of the 4 houses flaunts direct access to the beach and offers accommodation options between 3 and 5 bedrooms according to the residing family’s needs. The complex impresses with a special social area at its center that features a kitchen, a pool, bars and decks. As far as thermal comfort is concerned, a clever design based on passive cooling and heating solutions reduces power usage use while ensuring convenience.
The homes were raised between 3 and 6 feet off the ground in order to avoid being in direct contact with the warm sand. There’s also the double roof that makes air conditioning systems obsolete most of the time.
