Oxlade Drive House In Brisbane, Australia

The Oxlade Drive House was completed in 2013 by a firm called James Russell Architect, and it can be found in Brisbane, Australia. The team that was responsible for the design of this original 2,260 square foot home was comprised of Andrew Shindler, John Ellway and James Russell himself, while the building process was carried out by Kendall Constructions with the help of engineers from Westera Partners.

The residence was built at a slightly elevated position as a response to a series of floods caused by the Brisbane River. The abode consists of a selection of two story pavilions that are divided by a courtyard, which in turn comprises the swimming pool and a few social areas.

The rear pavilion that is found in close proximity to the pool is a private area that functions as an office or as a library, but it can also host intimate social calls. The middle pavilion houses the main living spaces as well as accommodations for the children, while the elevated timber pavilion includes the master bedroom as well as a screened veranda and a pitched roof.

Even though the Oxlade Drive House was built with a relatively modest budget, it manages to fulfill its owner’s requirements to the letter. The home received 2 prestigious awards in 2014: the Australian Institute of Architects State Award and Australian Institute of Architects Regional Commendation.
