Maged Bermawi designed Calaconta – a gated community in Ibiza, Spain. All the homes here are very elegant and they include stark white walls and warm stone accents.
The design of all the homes is about removing the boundaries between the indoors and the outdoors, for this reason there were installed glass facades that open up and disappear into the walls, giving the impression of an open air space.
Some of the interesting design features are the use of tadelakt in the bathroom which is a special technique used in Morocco and a magnifying window place in the ceiling.
The villas are all built in an H shape which means that the walls between the living the sleeping areas are touching in order to maintain separation.
Calaconta is the first gated community that offers permanent security and eco-credentials with rainwater and grey water harvesting, as well as geothermal energy sources for all the villas.
