Although Summer House in New York is situated in East Marion, Long island, New York, USA, its design reflects the owners’ Mediterranean origins, featuring an atrium, a basilica, a tower, and a cupola, adapted to the Northeastern area.
The 6,647-square-foot residence was designed by SS.MM Design and completed in 2008. The building is made of several different volumes, each having an urban or rural character, according to its function. The main living spaces are placed around the main central axis, and offer beautiful views of the private beach and the surrounding area.

This home beautifully marries cultural identity with place, showing how architecture can be a vessel for memory and adaptation, embodying both heritage and environment in a harmonious dialogue between past and present.
Thank you for your thoughtful insight. We aimed to capture that balance, creating a space where heritage and environment coexist, honoring both memory and modern living. Glad it resonated with you!
