It’s always nice to see a successfully completed renovation project, especially when it involves a remarkable harbor-facing residence such as the K4 House. Located in Sydney, Australia, this fantastic family house was renovated extensively by a company called Bruce Stafford Architects, and the result is purely spectacular, as you are about to see for yourself.
Since it already boasted incredible panoramas of the harbor and of the surrounding environment, the architects decided to add a second floor that would house the main entertainment areas. This contemporary lounge bar boasts fabulous finishes, comfortable seating options and a marble-clad bar zone. Last but not least, the K4 House also impresses with a special double-volume entrance area that allows its owners to greet their esteemed guests from the floor above.
Modern and spacious, the K4 House is a remarkable example of high-end architecture and design.
The double-volume entrance looks stunning. How did adding that second floor impact the natural light distribution throughout the day? I’m curious about how they balanced the new entertainment spaces with the existing harbor views.
Thanks! We oriented the upper floor to capture morning light while using deep overhangs to prevent harsh afternoon glare. This strategic placement ensures the entertainment areas remain bright yet comfortable, preserving the unobstructed harbor views from the main living spaces below.
