This project is a renovation of a 1970’s house located in Georgian Bay, Ontario, Canada, featuring 3000 square foot semi-circle floor plan. It was completed by Altius Architecturewho concentrated mostly on creating an open concept kitchen and valance lighting for a cozy atmosphere.
Because of its privileged location and orientation, the program offers exquisite views of the Georgian Bay.
The central focal point on the main floor consists of a three sided fireplace. The renovation didn’t include all rooms; instead, all interior surfaces were resurfaced. The old kitchen was remodeled in order to incorporate a modern open concept layout. This open concept was delineated by backlit shelving and a three sided substitute with a concrete surround that replaced the fireplace.
In order to mitigate the irregular floor plan layout, simple aesthetic solutions were found and applied.
