The Hillside House is a remarkable project by SB Architects, a San Francisco-based practice. As its name clearly suggests, the residence is located on a steep hill, and this has played a decisive role in its very vertical design. It can be found in Mill Valley, California, “just across the Golden Gate Bridge from San Francisco”.
It is a beautiful four-storey home built by renowned green builders McDonald Construction & Development. Perfectly combining high sustainability with high-end living, the residence features numerous eco qualities, such as high recycled content interior concrete, sustainably-harvested cabinetry and floors, sustainably-produced stone veneers, reclaimed timber and recycled metal roofing, zero-VOC paints, and low-flow plumbing fixtures. This is the first LEED for Homes Platinum custom house in Marin County.
