Laguna’s sensually organic and winding shape is a direct reflection of a body of water or lagoon, with its smooth black metal tabletop symbolizing the calm surface of water, along with its hidden depths and enigmas.
Laguna is the result of a partnership with ARRCC for their Cheetah Plains project. Located in Sabi Sands, Cheetah Plains is a high-end safari retreat for which OKHA designed custom and tailored furniture. Cheetah Plains has appeared in over 100 publications and received a nomination for the Dezeen Awards.
According to OKHA’s Creative Director Adam Court,
“The form was inspired by a strong physical context, influenced by the landscape’s mass as well as the internal spatial arrangement of the project, thus reflecting both functionality and the poetry of nature.”
This fusion of art, abstraction, and functionality is a distinctive hallmark throughout the OKHA collection.
Laguna can be tailored in various materials such as wood, stone, metal, mirror, and reinforced glass. In this instance, Laguna features a blackened aluminum top and patinated aluminum legs.
“The legs and table body will consistently be crafted from two different finishes or materials, as each signifies a distinct physical element. The legs rise above the tabletop to amplify that sensation of landscape, of varying masses… the flat horizontal surface of the table (water) is surrounded by the landscape that ascends above the water’s surface.
