The 299 Soper Place located in Ottawa, Canada, was completed in 2012 by Barry J. Hobin & Associates Architects Inc.
A 2-car garage and an indoor pool house were replaced with a luxurious spa, a lounge, a guest house and also a 4-car garage. The idea was to merge the indoors with the outdoors in order to create a homogenous living space.
The old outdoor covered walkway was turned into an indoor glass link that now provides a secondary entrance to the house.
The ground floor layout provides a Scandinavian like atmosphere, with a fitness room, a massage room and a steam room.
The connection between indoor and outdoor spaces is made by rusticated stone piers that turned the west facing rooms into an archway that goes out onto the pool terrace. The spaces within the archway are protected during warm summer months.
The guest house is hidden from the streetscape by a copper roofscape and can be accessed through a glass link that connects two separate suites located on the second floor. The list of amenities is not yet complete without the two large upper roof terraces that offer view of the pool and the property.
