Crow’s Nest Is A Superb Ski Cabin In Norden, California

Located within the old and famous Sugar Bowl Ski Resort in Norden, California, the Crow’s Nest is an exceptional ski cabin that was designed by BCV Architects and completed in 2012. Covering a surface of 5,600 square feet, this incredible abode sits at an altitude of 7,080 feet and boasts extraordinary views of its surroundings. The architects that were in charge of the cabin’s construction process are Hans Baldauf from AIA Principal and Jennifer Smith who was an associate, but they also received help from senior designer Asa Prentice, civil engineer Patrick Longtin and interior design expert Lisa Staprans. The structural, plumbing, mechanical and electrical systems were implemented by Ty Monks, Rene Tanag, Srdjan Rebraca and Tomislav Gajic respectively.

The cabin was built for a family of 6 and features its own ski-in/ski-out entry, ski room, a movie screening area, a laundry area and a sauna. The upper levels of the residence are reachable via a 3-story staircase made out of steel that was designed with utmost attention to detail. The primary level features a double height living room that has large windows, which provide breathtaking views of the nearby forest while allowing ample natural light to flow within. The dining room and library feature low ceilings and are best suited for smaller gatherings.

The private accommodations such as the 4 regular bedrooms, 2 bunkrooms and 2 main bedroom suites can be found at the upper floor. Even though they were designed to ensure privacy, these bedrooms are not isolated from the social areas because they are neatly arranged around a music loft that provides views of the living room below.
