Calistoga Residence is a beautiful, contemporary home situated in Napa County, California, USA. Strening Architects designed it for a couple from the Washington D.C. area.
The architects transformed the original house, made of stucco boxes, which had no relationship with the outside area, by adding two outdoor loggias, one on the front and one on the back of the house. They connect the interior with the beautiful landscape, allowing the owners to enjoy the amazing views of the Napa Valley. The use of simple materials such as stone, stucco, steel, and wood, perfectly integrates the building into the surrounding area, and at the same time it gives an air of elegance and refinement.
