The architects at Laura Alvarez, an Amsterdam-based design studio, managed to transform a dark and claustrophobic existing loft, into a bright, spacious apartment.
Situated in Amsterdam, Netherlands, Apartment Singel is a beautiful two-floor flat flawlessly designed. The first floor features the living area, which is a continuous open space, designed for different activities without having to separate it into several rooms. The guest room and main living room are located on the upper floor, separated by the bathroom. The architects used different materials for the two floors. The first story has a bamboo floor, while the second one has a grey epoxy floor, both creating a balanced contrast with the nut wood furnishings.
Laura Alvarez did a stunning job here. The contrast between the bamboo and grey epoxy floors is brilliant, and the open-plan design feels so airy. Truly inspiring work that turns a dark loft into a bright, spacious home.
Thank you so much! I’m thrilled you appreciate the bamboo and epoxy floor contrast. Creating that airy, bright atmosphere in the dark loft was my main goal. It’s wonderful to hear the design resonated with you!
