Located in Affligem, Belgium, the Courtyard House is a beautiful contemporary residence, completed in 2011 by VW Areal Architecten. Being situated in a rural area, the architects decided that this project would be great if it represented a modern farmstead.
Following the topography of the site, the house is a lovely and welcoming shelter that ensures easy transition between indoor and outdoor areas. The guesthouse and the garden beautifully match the main house’s architecture and general feel, for a complete project harmony.
Every choice that the architects made, including the material and colors used throughout the residence resulted in a rather southern atmosphere, which is an unexpected but refreshing feature in this northern climate.
