Wooden Whidbey Island Cabin by CHESMORE|BUCK Architecture

The following cabin located on Whidbey Island, Washington, was designed by CHESMORE|BUCK Architecture. The location is heavily wooded but still provides view of the busy boat traffic and to the Olympic Mountains.

When building this cabin, wood was the desired material because of the sense of warmth provided and because of the sustainability offered.

The ceilings are made out of cedar which extends to the exterior and turn into the soffit material. The structure consists of two walls inside: the ground face CMU block wall which divides the principal hall from the Guest Suite, and another one that encloses the Master Suite.

For the interior, the wood was also the main material which they opted for. Anyways, wood seems to be the leitmotif of this construction.
