Peregian Beach House is a contemporary home in Queensland, Australia, designed by Middap Ditchfield Architects. It is a holiday residence set on an elevated lot, and it is generously opened towards Peregian Beach and the vast ocean.
Carefully chosen, the exterior materials require minimum maintenance while ensuring maximum sturdiness. In order to minimize building bulk, the indoor and outdoor spaces communicate seamlessly with each other, giving a sense of lightness to the entire construction. Also to this end, some areas were designed as large single rooms, avoiding unnecessary separations and delimitations between spaces.
The residence also features some very important sustainability features, including a rain water collecting system, solar hot water system, natural climate control (cross ventilation and passive cooling), and natural lighting.
