Bord-du-Lac House Extension by Henri Cleinge

The owners of this remarkable home in Quebec, Canada contacted architect Henri Cleinge for a renovation an extension program. They wanted the existing 200 year old stone house on the property to receive a contemporary addition that would express the passage of time and find a harmonious way of joining old and new architectural elements. The project is called Bord-du-Lac House.

There are several generations living in the old and new buildings, a fact which represents a spiritual connection between the houses. The parents live in the fresh addition, while the ancestral house shelters the children, grandparents and a great grandfather. A bridge connects the two volumes, ensuring a facile transition from one to the other.
