Stacking Green by Vo Trong Nghia

Saigon, a beautiful Vietnamese city filled with flower pots, inspired Vo Trong Nghia Studio to create the Stacking Green project. This is a four-story residence designed for a thirty-years-old couple and their mother. It is a tube house with the front and back facades made of layers of concrete planters, adjusted at different heights depending on what type of plants they hold. The greenery is automatically irrigated through the pipes inside the planters.

During the day, the plants create beautiful shadow effects playing on the granite walls, at the same time offering the owners protection from pollution, sunlight and street noise. The inhabitants save great amounts of energy because of the natural ventilation between the facades and the 2 top-lights.
