Nestled in a verdant neighborhood of Cape Town is a striking residence, notable not only for its contemporary, glass-fronted design but also for its lively interiors. The homeowner’s passion for color and diverse materials guided the creative process. ‘By collaborating with the homeowner’s extensive and eclectic art collection, we were able to design spaces that foster a vibrant interaction between the artworks and the furnishings,’ states ARRCC director Mark Rielly.
“By collaborating with the homeowner’s extensive and eclectic art collection, we were able to design spaces that foster a vibrant interaction between the artworks and the furnishings.” – ARRCC director Mark Rielly. On the upper level, the bedrooms exemplify energetic decoration, in line with the homeowner’s request.
‘The children’s bedrooms showcase bold primary hues and paint-splattered walls, complemented by playful features like hammocks and bucket stools that introduce a youthful vibrancy,’ remarks ARRCC designer Sarika Jacobs. More sophisticated yet equally appealing, the main guest bedroom carries on the home’s pattern theme with its Graffito wallpaper by Kelly Wearstler and a custom-designed rug, which create imaginative forms through their fluid lines. OKHA’s geometric Rayon table lamps in stainless steel gracefully frame the bed.
A dedicated workspace features John Vogel’s Time Stood Still writing desk for Southern Guild and a green-blue polycarbonate Ella swivel chair by EDRA, overlooking the balcony and the garden beyond. The en-suite bathroom also benefits from this view, with its wall-length mirror reflecting the sunlight from the mountainside.
