Created for the manager of a vintage Scandinavian furniture trading company, SBD25 is a contemporary residence located in a luxury residential area in Seoul, South Korea. It can be admired in the Seongbuk-dong district, where old castle walls, classic Korean architecture and important historical landmarks contour the identity of the area.
The luxury home was designed by APOLLO Architects & Associates, who were commissioned to create the perfect backdrop for a display of old and new elements, as the owner wanted the possibility to integrate his company’s furniture into the interior design.
Because the available lot was a little restrictive in size, the architects used the method of extensive glazing to create the impression of extra space and openness. Also to this end, a traditional Korean madan interior courtyard was introduced. With four gardens (main garden, entrance garden, approach garden, and roof garden), the residence ensures excellent views from every single room, generating a sense of peace and tranquility.
