Built in 2012, the Park House by Shaun Lockyer Architects is a lovely contemporary residence in New Farm, Queensland, Australia. The property was quite different a few years ago, before being extensively altered and expanded to its current shape.
One key modification affected the living/dining/kitchen area, which now affords a better indoor-outdoor communication. The more dramatic alteration revolves around the addition of a Park Room above the existing living areas. This permitted the introduction of several different volumes and voids that help “create a sense of drama”. An excellent result of this alteration is the fact that light can now reach the living spaces below in a beautiful manner.
