Contemporary Wind Vault House by Architecture + Design

Wind Vault House is a contemporary home in Singapore, which was designed by Wallflower Architecture + Design. It’s a building resembling to a reinforced concrete tube with north-south oriented open ends.

The solid mass of reinforced concrete supports the tubular structure permanently affected by heat.

The timber screens from the north and south facades have a multilateral contribution consisting in offering privacy for the bedrooms, being also the first layer of glare and solar heat reduction for the indoor spaces.

The first level of the house is expansive and uncluttered and acts like a link towards the garden, living or dining room.

The spatial boundary is not architecturally contoured but can be distinguished due to the soldier-line of narrow polyalthia trees.

The swimming pool is the place where one can relax for hours, and is placed between the garden and the living space.
