Bauhaus Apartment Redesign In Tel Aviv-Yafo, Israel

A team of architects from Studio Raanan Stern Architect were tasked with the renovation of an 807-square foot apartment in Tel Aviv-Yafo, Israel. The apartment is a part of an older building that dates back to the 1930s, and it was completed in 2015 for a businessman. The abode’s fresh design includes a new brick wall that acts as a small gallery for local artworks. This wall also divides the apartment into a third and two-thirds and helps create welcoming and well-lit living areas on both sides.

The sound system and the air conditioning system are hidden from sight behind wooden doors in the lounge. As far as artificial lighting is concerned, it is ensured by a combination of contemporary and old fixtures, including two hanging lights that were taken from an old factory in the Czech Republic. The residence also features a central concrete beam that splits the main public space into a lounge and a kitchen. The apartment’s windows and doors look exactly like the ones that were installed in the abode eight decades ago, when it was inhabited for the first time.
