Rural but Modern Cornege Preston House by Bonnifait + Giesen

The Cornege-Preston House is a contemporary residence placed on one-hectare site of undulating grassland in Martinborough, New Zealand. It was designed by the Wellington-based architectural firm Bonnifait + Giesen who harmoniously mixed rural elements with modern details.

400 trees are planted here, following the site’s boundaries while the house faithfully follows the undulations of the land. The long façade is northwest orientated in order to capture the sun and to gain solar energy.

Among many amenities, the estate includes concrete floor and wall construction, thermostat-controlled electricity, double glazed windows and skylights, wall and ceiling wool insulation, a guest wing and two ensuited double bedrooms and spectacular views from every room.
